The demolition of a garage block in a car park in Warwick is well underway.

The block is being demolished due to having 'fallen into disrepair.'

The garages located at Priory Road car park in Warwick are being knocked down to facilitate the creation of additional parking spaces.

Warwick District Council applied to knock down the garage block near the exit of the Priory Road car park, stating: "The garages have fallen into a state of disrepair and are not considered to contribute architecturally or historically to the conservation area or to the district in general."

In the planning application, which was approved in early August, WDC concluded: "The proposed development is not considered to result in a detrimental impact on the heritage assets. 

"The proposals are also considered to have an acceptable impact on neighbouring residential amenity, nor protected species. Therefore, the application is recommended for approval."
