£18 million is set to be invested in new EV charging infrastructure across the county, Warwickshire County Council has announced.

Funding from private investment and the Department for Transport, is being put towards at least 73 EZO rapid charge point sockets, and 2,100 Connected Kerb lower-powered charge point sockets.

Cllr Stephen Shaw, portfolio holder for transport and planning, said: "It's fantastic news that we now have partners in place to deliver these electric vehicle charge points across the county, offering our residents, and those working or travelling through the county, greater choice and cheaper prices.

"We are committed to providing our residents with a modern and resilient transport infrastructure.

"Enhancing options for EV charging for those with EVs, or those thinking of switching to one, is a major contributing factor to that."

EZO CEO Ollie Chatten said, "EZO will help deliver rapid charging that gives drivers greater confidence and supports the wider shift to cleaner transport.

"Our focus will be on providing a dependable, user-friendly network that works for residents, businesses and visitors alike."

The rollout is largely funded by the Government's Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund, which aims to speed up the rollout of on-street charging and generate greater commercialisation and investment into the EV charging sector.

The council hopes the investment will help ensure "high-quality, well-placed and future-ready charge points, supporting residents and businesses as the transition to electric vehicles continues to gather pace."
