Firefighters called to tackle huge grass fire at Shrewley Common as multiple incidents are reported across Warwickshire

Fire crews were called to deal with a one-and-a-half acre grass fire at Shrewley Common this afternoon (July 10) - one of a number of similar incidents reported across Warwickshire as temperatures have hit nearly 30C this weekend.

Crews from Kenilworth, Henley-in-Arden and Leamington were called to the blaze at 3.17pm today.

A fire engine from Leamington was also called to row of hedges on fire at the junction of Crackley Lane and Cryfield Grange Road at around 3.30pm this afternoon.

In the north of the county crews have been called to deal with a fire in the woods off Rannoch Drive in Nuneaton.

Whilst 59 emergency calls were made reporting a grass fire on the embankment where the M42 meets the M6 Toll Northbound.

And a crew from Coleshill have extinguished trees and a wooden structure which had caught fire off Coppice Lane near Middleton.
