Here are the biggest planning stories from the last week in and around Warwick.

£150k Footpath

Term-time traffic congestion along Warwick's Myton Road could be dramatically reduced if a new footpath between two schools and Fusiliers Way, near the proposed Community Stadium car park, gets the go ahead.

The Myton Path for pedestrians and cyclists was among a number of projects considered by cabinet members of Warwick District Council at their meeting this week.

A council report said: "By providing a rear vehicle and pedestrian entrance to Myton School, it enables the school to build a new car park, relieving parking on the site, traffic congestion and air pollution on Myton Road."

Hydrogen Hub

Plans to construct a hydrogen hub on land at Greys Mallory near the M40 took a step closer this week after councillors agreed to look for a commercial partner to help develop the scheme.

The site, within the New House Farm development, is seen as the preferred option due to its proximity to the strategic road network – between junctions 13 and 14 of the motorway – and access to the grid.

A depot on Warwick's Stratford Road and Harbury Lane playing fields are also being considered.

Affordable Homes

The district council has backed plans to include 41 First Homes across three major housing estates in the county.

Extra affordable housing will now be included in the Gallows Hill, Lower Heathcote Farm and Rugby Road developments.

The houses will cost first time buyers no more than £250,000.

Language School

A former language school in Sherbourne, which dates back to the 19th century, can now be turned into a house following a Warwick District Council decision.

Plans to turn Sherbourne Priors into a home with at least nine bedrooms were submitted to Warwick District Council at the end of April.

The council said the change of use would not have a negative impact on the local community.
