Locals are to be kept waiting on controversial plans to turn a closed Warwick pub into a house.

A host of residents, and Warwick Town Council, have objected to the latest application to repurpose the Punch Bowl at The Butts from Secret Properties Ltd.

The application - the latest in a series for the former coaching inn - was due to be discussed by Warwick District Council's planning committee on Monday (October 7) but was withdrawn from the agenda on the day.

A council report said this was "because an issue has arisen concerning the noise attenuation proposals and their effect on the listed building and conservation area which need further consideration before determination by committee".

A new date for consideration has yet to be confirmed.

However, a report set to be discussed by councillors last night had recommended the application be approved.

The report said: "Subject to conditions and notes, the proposal will preserve the character of the conservation area, special interest and significance of the host building and onsite archaeology and the setting of neighbouring listed buildings and is not considered to result in harm to the character of the area, residential amenity, highways safety and parking, flood risk, ecology/biodiversity or climate change and adaption.

"When considering the benefits associated with the proposal the development is considered to represent a sustainable form of development and it is recommended that planning permission be granted."

Secret Properties has already seen a previous application to repurpose the building refused, and also failed to let out the venue.

The owner says converting the grade II listed pub to a house remains the only viable option - despite its pervious application being refused permission by the council.

If approved, the scheme would see some of the 20th century extensions removed, and some of the ground floor doors and windows reinstated.

As with the previous application, there would be internal alterations, with the kitchens removed.
