A Warwick restaurant has been given the green light for its extension plans.

Warwick District Council has approved planning permission for works at Smith Street Restaurant.

The town centre eatery has been given the go-ahead for a single-storey extension which it says will provide more storage space.

Signing off on the application, a council report said: "The extension subject to this application is considered to have a neutral impact upon the character and appearance of the conservation area, owing to its limited visual impact as a result of its positioning and overall scale.

"The development is also considered to have an acceptable impact upon neighbouring amenity.

"As such, it is recommended that planning permission is granted."

The Smith Street business said the extension will be 6.3 metres in depth from the main rear wall, 3.4 metres in width and 2.2 metres in height.

The extension will have a flat felt roof.

The application to Warwick District Council said: "The ground floor is currently in commercial use as a restaurant, whilst the first floor provides residential unit.

"The proposal seeks planning permission for a single-storey rear extension to provide additional storage space associated with the existing restaurant operation.

"The existing use of the property will remain unchanged."

Smith Street Restaurant opened in autumn 2025 offering a range of Mediterranean dishes.
