Join us for our third concert of the season at Warwick Hall, as we continue our partnership with Warwick Schools Foundation.
Four of the most dramatic and instantly recognisable notes in the history of all music heralded the arrival of the greatest of all symphonies.
These stark and thrilling notes tell the story of Beethoven's determination, his struggles and his genius.
Elgar's debt to Beethoven is well known and his Cello Concerto embodies an aching passion that was seemingly at odds with his Edwardian moustachioed, Imperial reserve. Gustav Holst's brilliant, folk-infused St Paul's Suite ensures a compelling opening to proceedings.
Cellist Sterling Elliott, BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, acclaimed for his stellar stage presence and joyous musicianship, joins us on stage to perform Elgar's Cello Concerto.
Sterling is a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient and the winner of the Senior Division of the 2019 National Sphinx Competition. Already in his young career, he has appeared with major orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
