To get us in the mood for Valentine's Day, the team behind St Maur in Warwickshire, are offering Nub News readers the chance to win a 70cl bottle of their award-winning elderflower liqueur worth £37.50.
St Maur is hand-crafted in the Heart of England and is a versatile drink, perfect for both sipping and mixing in long drinks and cocktails. Unmistakable from the pour, floral with citrus, and notes of red fruit, balanced on the palate.
Inspired by romance, St Maur was first created exclusively by William and Kelsey Seymour, Earl and Countess of Yarmouth, for their own wedding guests at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.
"We wanted a drink that would capture the spirit of a beautiful English summer day. Drawing on old family recipes handed down to us, we created St Maur and we named it after our family heritage. St Maur was created to celebrate lasting love and partnership with a little drop of England's heart. We also gave it the colour of love," said William.
Steeped in history, St Maur is the surname used by the family in medieval times and has ancestors who rode with William the Conqueror, but by the time Jane Seymour married Henry VIII the name had changed from 'St Maur' to 'Seymour.'
The wild blossoms used to make the liqueur are hand-picked by William and Kelsey in the shadow of trees which grew when their ancestors were young. The co-ordinates on the bottles will take you to Ladies Wood in the bucolic Warwickshire countryside, and to an elder grove where the elderflowers are picked early summer.
There's also a red-legged partridge on the bottle, a bird successfully introduced to England in the 19th century by an ancestor Francis Seymour, the 5th Marquess, and now the brand's mascot.
Today, the proud producers have four prestigious industry awards to their name, including Best English Floral in the World Liqueur Awards, Great Taste Award 2 Star rating, an International Spirits Challenge Silver Award and Gold at the Las Vegas Global Spirits Awards.
One lucky winner will receive a 70cl bottle of St Maur and branded presentation bag so they can choose to gift it to that special person in their life on Valentine's Day – or even just keep it for themselves!
