Yellow weather warning issued as Storm Austen threatens strong winds in Warwick
By James Smith 22nd Oct 2026
A yellow weather warning has been raised for Warwick ahead of Storm Austen this weekend.
The Met Office is warning of extreme wind from 10am to 9pm on Friday (October 23).
The warning is in place for much of the country as meteorologists predict 80mph gusts on the coast and 60-70mph gusts further inland.
Locals are being warned of "possible" short-term power loss, delays on exposed routes and "probably some bus and train services affected".
An amber warning has been raised in the south west of England.
Met Office deputy chief forecaster, Chris Bulmer, said: "Storm Austen is expected to bring a spell of impactful weather to parts of the UK from Thursday night and through Friday.
"While there remains some uncertainty in the exact track of the storm, there is increasing confidence in the potential for disruptive winds across parts of southwest England, which is why an Amber warning has been issued.
"Wind gusts could potentially reach 60-70 mph for a time, and these strong winds will be combined with spells of heavy rain. People in affected areas should keep up to date with the latest forecast and warnings as the event develops."
Winds will gradually ease through Friday afternoon and evening.
