Deliveries of new bins have begun for Warwick residents ahead of the new three-weekly waste collections starting in the district on August 1.

The new '123+' system was announced by Warwick District Council last year and will see a change to the way households in the area manage their waste.

Residents will now also have to pay an annual fee for their green bin collections.

A full guide to how the new system will work can be found here.

Households will now be given a new blue-lidded wheelie bin for their fortnightly mixed recycling collections, as well as green food caddies for their weekly food waste collections.

Each household should receive two caddies - one inside the other - as well as an information pack.

Deliveries of the new bins and caddies began on June 20 and will continue around the district throughout July.

The existing grey bins will be used for general refuse collections every three weeks.

WDC said the deliveries were being done gradually "based on the new BIFFA collection rounds to ensure that properties receive the correct collection calendar".

These new bins will not come into use until August 1.

Until then residents will continue to use their red recycling boxes.

But from August 1, red boxes will no longer be needed. These can then be taken to local recycling centres to be taken away, but residents can also ask for the council to come and collect them.

Collections of unwanted red boxes will begin in November, but residents can register now to have them taken away.

Residents can chose to keep their red boxes for a new use.

Households not subscribing to the new green bin collections from August 1 can also arrange to have their green bins taken away later in the year.

More information on the new 123+ bin collections can be found on the Warwick District Council website here.
