Wave of objections to plans for 250 new village homes and shop
By James Smith 15th May 2026
Residents have come out in opposition to plans for 250 new homes in Hampton Magna.
William Davis Ltd put forward the scheme for Old Budbrooke Road on the edge of the village earlier this year.
But 40 objections have already been submitted to the application, with issues around traffic, water supply and the impact of more residents on GP practices and other infrastructure.
Objector Guy Pardo wrote: "As a resident of nearly 20 years in Hampton on the Hill there has been a substantial increase in vehicles travelling through the village.
"Get an accident on M40, north or south of Longbridge junction, or the A46, and tendency to filter through the village causing road blocks. Add in another batch of new homes and it will be impossible.
"Furthermore, all construction and delivery vehicles will have come through the village due to the height restrictions at the railway bridges.
"Therefore we strongly object to this proposed development."
Naomi Gaade added: "The infrastructure is not sufficient to add more residents - more residents will require the resources for more school places, more GP appointments, public transport, more traffic in Warwick and on the A46 which is also regularly at a standstill at peak times."
Meanwhile Mark Innes said: "The proposal lacks the dwellings required locally, which is bungalows, and the 'retail space' isn't really needed - a larger doctors with proper parking is required but not included.
"Previous developments have damaged roads and frontages, then not repaired them, and this will be more of the same."
The planning application shows the 250 homes would be built across 21.75 hectares of land.
Plans show a "retail facility", woodland play trail, community growing area and "destination" play area would be created.
The application also promises "existing viewlines" to St. Mary's Church will be kept and a "green corridor" will "frame the view through the development area".
The developer has not revealed what the mix of houses will be, but has said half will be designated as affordable homes.
"It is our contention that the proposed development represents sustainable development in respect of the delivery of much needed homes, including affordable homes, on an accessible and under-utilised site in close proximity to existing services and facilities," the application said.
Taylor Wimpey has also put forward plans for 360 homes in Hampton Magna.
