A Warwickshire charity, which supports LGBT+ people across the county has received a £12,500 donation from CharityJob, the UK's largest charity job board.
Warwickshire Pride is one of just five small charities across the country chosen to benefit from CharityJob's annual donation fund, which this year is £70,000, which supports local organisations making a real difference in their communities.
Warwickshire Pride exists to preserve and protect the physical and mental health of LGBTQ+ people, and advance education in relation to LGBTQ+ communities and topics. They offer services and events across Warwickshire
The funding will help Warwickshire Pride run a number of services and social events for the LGBT+ community across the county. As well as an established festival in Warwickshire's events calendar, Warwickshire Pride also offers a range of support services, groups, and social activities which take place all year round, providing safe, welcoming, inclusive, and accessible spaces for LGBT+ people.
Thousands apply for CharityJob's annual donation
As part of its annual commitment to give back to the sector, CharityJob invited members of its sister site, CharityConnect, to apply for a share of this year's fund.
More than 1,000 small charities applied, each meeting eligibility criteria such as having 50 or fewer employees, an income of under £1 million, and at least one year of published accounts.
Following a thorough review process, a CharityJob panel selected five recipients for donations between £10,000 and £25,000.
This year's chosen charities are:
- CRADLE Charity
- Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care
- The Separated Child Foundation
- Warwickshire Pride
- Dragonfly Cancer Trust
Co-founder of CharityJob and CharityConnect Raya Wexler, said: "We're thrilled with this year's chosen charities.
"Each of these charities, like so many, need support, but what was evident to us in the decision-making process was that each had a definite plan of what they would do with the funds, with very clear, tangible results as an outcome. It was important for us to know the impact of our donation and we're very happy it will go toward helping so many people."
Helping small charities through difficult times
Wexler added that supporting small charities has never been more important:
"Given the challenging mix of economic pressures – such as the cost-of-living crisis, higher National Insurance costs, and wider global instability – which always lead to a drop in public donations, it's no wonder that many charities are facing serious financial difficulties. T
"This is why we feel it's more important than ever to give back, particularly to smaller charities that are more susceptible to economic pressures and less equipped to weather crises."
With this year's funding, CharityJob's total donations now exceed £1.49 million, supporting 123 different charities over the last 25 years.
"We feel incredibly privileged to support such meaningful organisations," said Wexler.
"This opportunity is made possible thanks to the recruiters who advertise with us – their support directly fuels our ability to give back to the sector we love."
