Warwickshire brewery sold to investment firm
A local independent brewery has been sold to an investment firm, for an undisclosed fee.
The assets of Purity Brewing Co, which is based in Great Alne has been acquired by the Breal Group.
According to the BBC, Breal said the sale "will secure the long-term future of the business and is set to help retain jobs within the brewery".
The news comes just weeks after Purity released a new gin in collaboration with Warwickshire Gin Company. The new product is named in memory of the company's late co-founder Jim Minkin.
Minkin established Purity in 2005 with Paul Hasley on a joint mission to 'brew great beer without prejudice, with a conscience and a consistency and attention to detail.'
Following this week's announcement, John Hunt, managing director at Purity Brewery said: "We all know the brewing industry has had a turbulent time of late, and like many others, the business has certainly felt the pressure of rising costs.
"However, we're incredibly pleased Breal recognises the value and uniqueness of our offering and had the vision to invest in securing the future of the brewery."
Private equity firm Breal acquired Black Sheep Brewery in May, as well as Brick Brewery and Brew By Numbers also this year.
