After-hours ghost tours, a murder mystery trail and deals on Death by Chocolate are among the activities on offer this October half-term at Warwick's Lord Leycester.

Visitors to the Medieval site are in for an historic Halloween thanks to the special events lined up later this month, showcasing the 900 years of history at what is one of the most significant medieval sites in the UK and Europe.

During October half-term families can take part in a special Halloween murder mystery trail, becoming Victorian detectives to help crack codes and solve the mystery of poor Alice Brown's murder.

From Friday 25 October to Monday 4 November, the free murder mystery trail is available from the Lord Leycester ticket office, providing the perfect family activity.

Alongside this, the Lord Leycester is also running after-hours tours of the site, where visitors can uncover the chilling stories of ghosts past and present who have walked the Medieval buildings.

From headless knights to medieval monks, delve into the tales of those who have haunted the Lord Leycester for over 900 years.

The ghost tours will take place on Wednesday, 30 October and Thursday 30 October from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. The tour is priced £8 per person and is open to aged seven and above.

Throughout October half-term, children aged 12 and under get free entry to the Lord Leycester on general admission, giving them access to the full site, as well as the chance to enjoy ongoing activities like the Tudor Fairy Trail.

And as an added bonus, the venue's cafe is running a special offer from 23rd October to 3rd November where visitors will get a free slice of Death by Chocolate cake with any large hot drink ordered.

Bryony Goodwin, audience engagement manager at the Lord Leycester, said: "The Lord Leycester is a great place for families to visit all year round, but we've gone all out to make sure everyone can have a 'spooktacular Halloween' right here in one of the most historic sites in Warwick - and the country.

"The Lord Leycester is packed with spooky stories and we're excited to share them in a family-friendly way this October half-term."

Built by the powerful Warwick Guilds in the late 1300s and later given to Elizabeth I's courtier Robert Dudley as a home for soldiers injured in the wars of the Tudor age, the Lord Leycester has recently undergone a £4.5million transformation funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players and  in partnership with other national and local community donors.
