Warwick Thai Festival lauded 'a huge success' by organisers
Organiser Warwick Rotary Club has said it was "delighted with the large turnout" as the Thai festival returned last weekend, beating last year's record attendance.
Thai food and drink as well as entertainment was on offer as visitors flocked to Warwick Racecourse to enjoy the hot weather.
Warwick Thai Festival was opened by Mayor of Warwick Cllr Parminder Singh Birdi followed by prayers and blessings by Buddhist Monks.
Clothing sold well and spices and foodstuffs did a busy trade as the "opportunity was taken to stock up".
The two days then featured a programme of entertainment from Thai traditional dancing, local Muay Thai kick boxers, and even ladyboys.
Warwick Rotary thanked its partners Magic of Thailand who managed the event, bringing all the artists and stalls.
The club also thanked Warwick Sea Scouts who helped park all the cars for two days, receiving donations for their funds.
With support from local sponsors Warwick Kia who brought some cars to view, and Warwick Castle, the club is hoping to have raised a considerable amount for it's charitable work.
Alan Bailey from the Rotary Club said: "Warwick Rotary club has worked with the Thai people since the Tsunami in 2004 when it started an annual festival of culture and food to raise money to help orphans.
"We have stayed in touch over the years and recently sent aid to Thailand during the pandemic.
"It was good to be able to meet up again and it was clear that England and Thailand were having a great time in Warwick this weekend as no-one wanted to go home!"
And Vicki Morris was the lucky winner of the raffle for a flight to Thailand.
