Warwick's The Old Fourpenny Shop has been named the winner of the 2024 Heart of Warwickshire Pub of the Year competition.

The prize, voted for by members of the local CAMRA branch, was presented to the Crompton Street pub last week.

The Old Post Office and The Eagle - both run by husband and wife team Rachel Silverthorne and Tim Maccabee - were named as runners up.

Meanwhile The New Inn, in Norton Lindsey, was named as the Best Country Pub.

"Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Heart of Warwickshire Pub of the Year competition," Heart of Warwickshire CAMRA posted on its social media.

"We had a record number of members voting and it was really close between the top three."

All three Warwick pubs were featured in the CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2024.

As with previous years, the latest edition has been compiled by thousands of independent volunteers, with 4,500 boozers across the country featured.

Following the presentation of the awards last week, The Eagle took to Facebook to say: "A huge thank you to all of our lovely customers and in particular those who voted for us in the pub of the year competition 2024.

"To get runner up with both The Eagle and The Old Post Office is amazing. Apparently, with exactly equal scores.

"Congratulations also to The Four Penny Pub who achieved overall winner. Perfect for an award winning mini pub crawl!

"Thanks also to all those who supply the lovely beer we enjoy!"
