Here are the biggest planning stories from the last week in and around Warwick.

School's Expansion

Plans to build a two-storey extension at a Warwick school to increase the number of SEND school places have been revealed.

Warwickshire County Council (WCC) revealed last year £7.82 million will be invested at Evergreen School to help create around 40 new places.

The school, which was formed in September 2020 following the merger of Ridgeway School and Round Oak School, has two sites in Warwick - on Deansway and Brittain Lane.

The funding will be spent at the latter, where most of the older students are based.

Demolition Underway

Demolition works have begun at Warwick Hospital as work to create a brand new entrance and elective hub continue.

South Warwickshire University NHS Trust (SWFT) announced this week the first of the buildings have started to be knocked down to make way for the major new development.

Demolition work started on March 18, with photographs taken over the past few days showing the fast progress to date.

Showroom to Shops

Town councillors and local residents have objected to plans to turn a former Warwick car showroom into two new shops.

'Warwickshire Partnership' has applied for planning permission to repurpose the former Kia Showroom on Stratford Road, which has been vacant since April 2023.

Plans submitted to Warwick District Council show the smaller unit would be used for a business such as a hairdressers, funeral director or salon.

Meanwhile the larger of the two would become a 'top-up' food shop.

A46 Bridge

Designs for a new bridge to carry the A64 over the new HS2 line near Kenilworth have been signed off.

The high speed rail developer says the dual carriageway will be closed for just 10 days to install the structure, which will mostly be built alongside the road before being slid into place.

Warwick District Council planners have now given the green light to the plans for the A46 Kenilworth Bypass Overbridge.
