Here are the biggest planning stories from the last week in and around Warwick.

Rugby Club

Wasps have withdrawn plans to expand their Henley-in-Arden training ground as the club's future hangs in the balance.

The club announced at the start of the week that they had gone into administration and made 167 members of staff redundant.

And as Wasps attempt to pay back the £35million debt owed to bond holders they have pulled two applications to Stratford-on-Avon District Council to improve their Stratford Road Elite Performance and Innovation Centre.

One application would have seen a new changing pavilion and groundsman's store built at the 13 acre green belt site.

Affordable Housing

More affordable social housing could be on the cards for south Warwickshire and the surrounding area even though the council's latest state of the district report explained that nearly a third of all new builds over the past ten years have been in this sector.

In presenting the report at this week's full Stratford District Council meeting, Cllr Tony Jefferson added that with house prices going up, it was difficult for residents to buy their own property.

He said: "House prices are high and, as we know, are unaffordable for many. The median house prices are well above the Warwickshire average.

"Affordable housing has made up an average of 29% of all new dwellings completed since 2012. That is quite an achievement and one that I think we should be proud of."

Cycle Route

Over £200,000 has been allocated to a scheme that will see a cycle route built along Coventry Road in Warwick.

The new route will go from the Spinney Hill roundabout, where it will connect to the National Cycle Network Route 52 to Kenilworth, and the St Johns junction on the edge of Warwick town centre.

Construction is expected to start in 2023, with the latest funding secured from the government's Cycle Rail Routes to Station Fund.

Coventry Road was identified as high priority for a cycle route by Warwickshire County Council in 2018, with design work starting in 2020.
