Warwick planning roundup: New takeaways, demolition refused and bank's future

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Drive Thru Detail

Plans for two new drive thru eateries at Leamington Shopping Park have taken a step forward, with planners signing off on more details for the site.

The former Frankie & Benny's restaurant at the Tachbrook Park Drive centre has already been demolished, with contractors working fast to create the two new fast food outlets.

And now Warwick District Council has signed off on the designs for a new set of EV chargers to be installed.

Historic Building Demolished

There was "no justification" for a 200-year-old building in Warwick to be demolished earlier this year, council planners have ruled.

Retrospective planning permission was sought after Spring Cottage on Budbrooke Road was knocked down earlier this year, despite the owners not having permission to do so.

The application submitted to Warwick District Council said the work was needed "urgently" with the former customs house having "sustained irreversible damage".

Bank's Future

Plans to remove signs and two ATM's from a bank in Warwick have been put forward to the council.

Lloyds on Swan Street is winding down to closing, as the bank shuts branches across the country.

The Warwick branch will shut on 24 June 2025, as the bank axes 45 sites nationwide.
