Here are the biggest planning stories from the last week in and around Warwick.

Hotel's Expansion

A Leek Wootton golf club hotel is set for a major extension after district planners granted permission for it to build 26 new bedrooms.

The Warwickshire Hotel and Country Club has been given the go-ahead for a two-storey extension for new rooms as well as a single-storey extension for a new breakfast room.

The hotel, which already has 56 rooms, an indoor swimming pool and sauna complex, said the expansion was needed to keep up with the demand from customers.

Secondary School's Toilets

A plan to renovate toilets at Warwick's Aylesford School is set to cost £106,000 with all but a £4,000 contribution from the school coming from developer funds paid to Warwickshire County Council.

A report drawn up by officers at the meeting explained: "Current student sanitary facilities in the secondary school fall well below reasonable standards.

"The school has too few toilets and those that are available are cramped and poorly designed."

£15m Fund

Finance chiefs will be able to dip into a contingency fund to help cover the escalating costs of Warwickshire County Council's major building projects.

Cabinet members agreed a £15m emergency pot at their meeting last week after hearing that prices of construction materials had risen by more than 25 per cent.

The council's portfolio holder for finance and property, Cllr Peter Butlin said: "Capital programmes are coming back to us for a top-up because of inflation. We have identified 47 different projects across the county which will be impacted."
