Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Emergency escape bid

Council planners have received an application for a new emergency escape at a local church.

An application for the works at Heathcote Parish Church and Community Centre on Cressida Close has been submitted to Warwick District Council.

Plans show the escape staircase would be built to the rear of the building and is needed due to internal changes.

The application said: "Due to church growth, the existing ceiling area over the creche / offices is being strengthened to create a mezzanine area for 46 additional seats."

Trees cut at athletics track

Works have begun on nearly twenty trees at an athletics track which could become part of a major overhaul in the area between Warwick and Leamington.

Nineteen trees will be felled or cut back on safety grounds, due to their location bordering at Emscote Athletics Track, with facilities used on a daily basis by both adults and children.

Over the past few months, the trees were carefully monitored by the District Council's Green Spaces and County Council's Forestry teams.

Six new homes

Planners have given a boost to plans for six new homes at a village paddocks.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council has granted permission in principle for the new homes at Hornbeam Paddocks in Norton Lindsey.

Permission in principle means outline plans have been agreed, but a more detailed application with the design of the homes is needed before building can begin
