Blue light staff, shift workers, taxi drivers and people who work anti-social hours are set to benefit from extended opening hours at Warwick's branch of McDonald's.

From today (17 March) the Emscote Road branch will stay open for an extra hour, meaning it will close at midnight on week nights and 1am at weekends.

The extra hours will be for drive thru and delivery only.

The extended hours come after People Arches Ltd, the company that operates the business, was granted a 24-hour license by Warwick District Council.

But founder Dawood Ibtehsam said they only ever planned to extend hours slightly to cater for people who may work late hours and benefit from having somewhere to buy hot food and drinks after a shift.

He said: "We applied to extend our hours as we recognised a demand not just from people wanting to grab something to eat late at night, but for the many people who work antisocial hours and rely on us for something to eat at the end of a gruelling shift.

"We know there were some concerns that we would be open 24 hours, but this won't be the case and our extra hours are for drive thru and delivery only.

"Being part of our community is incredibly important to us at People Arches, hence our initiatives such as litter picks and events at our branch, so we'll be keeping a close eye for any potential antisocial behaviour and ensuring the safety of our staff and local community.

"But by extending our opening hours we can cater to the people who have shown they would like to be able to order from us at times when nowhere else is open."

As well as staging regular litter picks, People Arches has sponsored local children's teams and funded the purchase of 64 pantomime tickets for children in care and their foster families before Christmas so they could enjoy a festive day out.

The business People Arches was named as a finalist in The Equality Trailblazer category of the Coventry & Warwickshire Business and Community Awards 2025.
