A Warwick McDonald's has submitted a fresh application for a 24/7 licence, having been given it on a temporary basis last year.

The business on Emscote Road was last year given the licence by Warwick District Council, but actually only stayed open for an extra hour.

The extra hours were for drive thru and delivery only, but were only approved on a temporary basis following concerns from neighbours about anti-social behaviour.

Now People Arches Ltd, the company that operates the business, has submitted an application to the council to extend the licence beyond this March.

The application explained: "We are applying for a permanent premises licence authorising the same hours and licensable activities as those permitted under the previous temporary Premises Licence.

"This restaurant understands that in extending our opening hours we have a duty to the local community and that we continue to protect our staff and customers from danger and harm.

"We believe that the systems we have in place are robust, thorough and will, as far as reasonably practicable, secure the promotion of the four licensing objectives.

"It should be noted that no McDonald's restaurant within the United Kingdom serves alcohol and further none of our drinks or food are served to customers in glass receptacles.

"We are eager to work in partnership with all responsible authorities to ensure the promotion of the four licensing objectives.

"We also seek to work with the local communities, whom we serve, in achieving a successful cohesion between our business operations and our neighbours."

Last year founder Dawood Ibtehsam said his business only ever planned to extend hours slightly to cater for people who may work late hours and benefit from having somewhere to buy hot food and drinks after a shift.

Locals have until February 3 to comment on the application.
