SWFT Clinical Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, has revealed its newly upgraded Outpatient Pharmacy at Warwick Hospital.

This new facility, designed with patient care, safety, and service delivery at its forefront, represents a significant advancement in supporting the NHS and enhancing the patient experience.

Playing a crucial role in delivering high-quality services that directly benefit patient welfare, SWFT Clinical Services reinvests any surplus into the Trust or donates it to charitable organisations, to ensure that the positive impacts of these services continue to improve healthcare outcomes.

The updated pharmacy facility has expanded its capacity, allowing SWFT Clinical Services to assist a greater number of patients while enhancing operational efficiency.

A standout feature of the new facility is the integration of a dispensing robot which boosts the site's stock levels and accelerates the dispensing process, thus facilitating quicker patient discharges and enabling staff to focus on direct patient care.

Another innovation includes a Medipoint prescription collection machine, providing patients the convenience of collecting their medications at times that best suit them. This enhances the patient experience by reducing wait times and streamlining the collection process.

Ross Mould, Director of Clinical Operations at SWFT Clinical Services, stated: "SWFT Clinical Services remains committed to safety, excellence, and patient-centred care.

"The new purpose-built Outpatient Pharmacy at Warwick Hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, demonstrates our continued investment in innovation to enhance local NHS services."

An electronic controlled drugs cabinet has also been installed, enhancing both the safety and efficiency of dispensing controlled substances by adding a security layer for sensitive medications.

The facility now also offers an extensive range of over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplementary health products, all aimed at promoting the wellbeing of patients and the community.

This comes alongside the new entrance which opened at Warwick Hospital "marking a key milestone in its ongoing transformation".

On Tuesday 7 October, South Warwickshire University Foundation Trust (SWFT) opened the entrance which is designed to create a "more welcoming space", enhance food and retail offerings, and "improve navigation and access" for patients, visitors, and staff.

This was the first phase of the site's redevelopment.
