A Warwick footbridge has been forced to close for emergency repairs.

A notice at the bridge behind the Saxon Mill pub says it is due to the "dangerous condition" of the bridge.

The bridge, which carries footpath W177, was closed on Friday 16 August.

The notice from Warwickshire County Council is for a permanent 21 day closure, but could last up to six months if needed.

Photographs on social media show holes in the surface of the bridge.

A statement from the local authority added: "The second bridge leading from Saxon Mill Pub CV34 5YN to Old Milverton has been damaged and is closed to all pedestrians and cyclists.

"Please avoid using it for your own safety. We are repairing it asap. Thankyou."
