Organisers say they may have to hire security in future years as the Warwickshire Pride event was vandalised once again on Friday night.

In a video share on social media, Warwickshire Pride chair Daniel Browne revealed the event in Leamington Spa was once again targeted by vandals overnight, before the march and festivities got underway on Saturday (August 17).

"Sadly on arriving on site this morning, our Pride site has been vandalised again," he said.

"Every single flag and decoration has been torn down and stolen.

"Gazebos have been trashed, there is glass smashed over the site.

"It is exactly the same as last year.

"This is despite the police having an operation last night roaming the site, the council street wardens were apparently roaming the site last night as well.

"I myself was only gone for a few hours."

Mr Browne said the charity may have to hire security next year as it looks like Pride will be "targeted every single year".

"It is really s*** you know," he added.

"We are a very small team of volunteers, we work all year round to put on this Pride event.

"We are a small charity with limited funds and resources.

"When stuff like this happens it is really disheartening and it really makes me quite angry."

Despite the vandalism, the event was a big success with hundreds of supporters heading to the town centre throughout the day and for the after parties across Leamington.
