Warwick field fire sees firefighters on scene near A46 for two hours

Firefighters were at the scene of a field fire in Warwick for nearly two hours last night (July 2).

Images of the blaze - shared with Nub News by Alex Harvey - shows the fire in the field of crops right next to the A46, with smoke billowing over the dual carriageway.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service told Nub News it was called to the scene on Woodloes Lane at around 5.30pm where the field was well alight.

Four fire engines were called to the blaze.

The fire was brought under control and then firefighters stayed on site for nearly two hours to damp down hot spots and secure the area.

A spokesperson said: "Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at around 17:30pm on 2 July to reports of a fire in a field on Woodloes Lane, Warwick.

"On arrival, crews discovered a field well alight involving crops.

"Firefighters used extended hose reels and beaters to quickly bring the fire under control and were on scene for almost two hours damping down hot spots.

"There were four appliances in attendance."
