Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a serious collision that occurred last night involving a lorry, causing several closures on the M40.
The incident occurred after a lorry crashed on to the opposite carriageway.
The southbound section of the M40 motorway now remains closed between Junction 15 at Warwick and Junction 12 at Gaydon.
The northbound carriageway is now however operating with only one lane open.
Due to the extensive repairs required, officials anticipate the closure will remain in effect throughout the morning.
All vehicles previously trapped within the closed section have now been able to pass through.
Local diversions have been put in place and motorists who plan to travel this route should expect delays and allocate extra time for their journeys.
Updates can be found on the National Highways website.
