Warwick District Council has secured £2.42m from the Government's Warm Homes Plan to help households save money on their energy bills and deliver cleaner heat to their homes.

Working with local charity Act on Energy and retrofit specialists Energy Efficiency Consultants and Broad Oak Group, the Warm Homes Local Grant scheme will help improve around 150 homes in Warwick District with measures such as:

• Solar photovoltaic panels including battery storage

• Air source heat pumps

• Loft, cavity and external wall insulation

• Smart heating controls

To be eligible, residents need to own and live in their home, or rent it privately as a tenant, within Warwick District and have a gross household income of £36,000 or less per year.

Or they must live in an eligible postcode area, or on means tested benefits and live in a home that has an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating of D, E, F or G.

As the scheme is in its early stages, there will be an extended period of time to wait before hearing back from Act on Energy, but anyone eligible is advised to make an initial contact.

Cllr Lowell Williams, Portfolio Holder for Decarbonisation said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to help residents lower their fuel bills and ensure their home is warm in the winter. Simple measures like insulation and solar panels with batteries that store the energy they've generated can really make a difference.

"It's not a complicated process, and our partners will guide you from start to finish, ensuring you have the right measures for your home.

"So, if you think you meet the eligibility criteria, please do get in touch."

As part of the scheme individuals will be given their home's EPC rating.

Act on Energy will be processing the applications, with eligible households receiving a full home survey to find the right measures for them by Energy Efficiency Consultants (EEC).

Broad Oak Group will then oversee the installation of the measures to the property. Anyone who thinks they may be eligible are urged to check the criteria, eligible postcodes and FAQs at www.warwickdc.gov.uk/WHLG, before applying directly to Act on Energy.

Rachel Jones, CEO at Act on Energy added: "We're pleased to be able to support Warwick District residents with their journey to a warmer home. The cheapest energy is the energy you don't use, so making our homes more energy efficient is not only good for saving money, but also good for the environment. "A warm, dry home which is energy efficient w3ill have a direct impact on people's quality of life, so we're delighted to enable that to happen."

This latest round of funding complements the work already undertaken by the Council to help households reduce their energy bills, with the previous Green Homes Grants scheme helping a number of households in Warwick District retrofit their home.

The Low-Cost Low-Carbon Energy Programme is the part of the Council's Corporate Strategy that seeks to lower energy bills and reduce carbon emissions from buildings across the district.

Neil Holmes, Director of Warm Homes at Broad Oak Group, said: "We're delighted to be working alongside Warwick District Council and Act on Energy to deliver the Warm Homes Local Grant scheme. This initiative will make a real difference to households across the district, helping residents to enjoy warmer, more comfortable homes while reducing their energy costs and carbon footprint.

"By improving the quality and efficiency of homes, we're not only supporting Warwick District Council's wider sustainability goals but also enhancing people's health and wellbeing. Living in a warm, dry, energy-efficient home has a direct impact on comfort and quality of life, and we're proud to play a part in bringing those benefits to local communities."
