A number of Warwick roads are set to be closed on multiple Sundays in the coming weeks as works at the St Johns junction continued.

The major highways scheme began in October and has seen traffic lights around the junction for much of the time since.

Warwickshire County Council has confirmed there will be road closures on on June 7, June 21, and June 28 from 8am to 5pm.

The first Sunday closure was in place yesterday (May 31).

The works at St Johns are due to be completed at the end of June

On June 7 Coventry Road will be shut between the entrance to the shops up to the traffic lights. Smith Street will be closed between the junction with Cross Street to the traffic lights. The exit from Priory Road to St Johns will also be closed.

On June 21 the service road and parking bays by the shops will be closed. Priory Road will be closed from its junction with Cross Street to St Johns.

On June 28 St Johns Court and St Nicholas Church Street will be closed.

The local authority is installing a shared cycleway/footpath, new crossings, bike racks and service road outside the shops.

WCC wants to "improve connectivity and enhance the experience for pedestrians, cyclists and business users" in the area.

This as well as making the area more attractive with "material enhancements outside the retail/commercial area while preserving as many parking bays as possible".
