Speed limit cut to 20mph on village roads
By James Smith 30th Sep 2026
The speed limit has been reduced on several village roads following the request of a county councillor.
20mph limits have now been imposed on five roads around Hampton on the Hill.
A 50mph limit has also been extended by around 50m on Hampton Road.
The changes in Hampton were rubber-stamped on Wednesday 23 September and come following a public consultation held last year.
Cllr Jan Matecki had prompted the local authority to consider the change.
A Warwickshire County Council report said: "The reduced speed limit will help improve the environment for vulnerable road users, such as wheelchair users, horse riders, pedestrians and pedal cyclists where there are no footpaths.
"The village has a church which is used by residents and visitors to Hampton on the Hill.
"Motorists will be travelling at a slower speed, and therefore more aware of safety issues when driving through the village."
The speed limit has been cut from 30mph to 20mph on the following roads:
- Grove Croft
- Hampton Croft
- Hampton Road
- Old Budbrooke Road
- Old School Lane
