Here are our top picks this week:

1. Romeo and Juliet at Playbox Theatre

Enjoy a production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at a Warwick theatre, as it opens its 2026 season.

Playbox Theatre at The Dream Factory in Warwick, is set to launch its 40th anniversary year, with Founding Director Mary King's revisiting of the story of two young people in the first flower of youth, caught in a world of conflict, parental control, and catastrophic misunderstanding.

Staged in a new traverse format — which will be retained across the season — the production places audiences at the heart of a contemporary Verona.

The action unfolds in a single shared space, creating an intense, close-up experience that brings the tragedy into sharp and immediate focus.

Sophie Rhodes (16) and Sam Almond (17) play the teenage lovers, Romeo and Juliet, in a company cast aged appropriately for the story.

Romeo & Juliet runs from Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 February at Playbox Theatre and tickets are available from £10 per person.

Organised by CJ's Events Warwickshire. the weekly market runs in the centre of town every weekend from 9am to 3pm.

CJ's Events said: "Warwick Market is a great opportunity to shop in a vibrant open-air setting, surrounded by many independent shops and cafes.

"On our Market, you will find variety and value, sold by new and experienced traders.

"You'll find stalls selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables, plants and cut flowers, to fresh baking, fish and clothing, to gifts, and food specialities."

4. String Quartet

Over the road in Leamington, the Henschel Quartet from Germany returns for its eleventh visit since first playing in the town in February 2000, the last time opening the 2018/19 Winter Season.

For this concert, the Quartet sandwiches two works we know and love with a new one for many of us: the First Quartet of Freda Swain (written in 1924), whose oeuvre is currently being rediscovered and who should undoubtedly have been recognised as one of the most prominent composers of her time.

The event is taking place at Holy Trinity Church in Leamington on Friday 13 February.
