A local brewery is set to revive the spirit of a much-loved local beer festival this spring with a four-day event this week.

Windmill Hill Brewery and Taproom is set to host the festival from 16 to 19 April, celebrating independent brewing across Warwickshire.

The event will pay tribute to the former Leamington Beer & Music Festiva, which ran from 2013 to 2018, by bringing together local breweries, live music and street food just a stone's throw from The Band Factory – the original home of the popular festival.

Organisers say the aim is simple: 'to celebrate Warwickshire brewing and restore a town-centre beer festival that many residents remember fondly.'

As part of the event, local Warwickshire breweries are being invited to take part in a cask and keg swap, creating a showcase of beers from across the county.

Live entertainment will feature sets from Crushed Velvet and Napton Collective, while street food traders including Yummy Sausage and Scratch Cook Social will be serving food throughout the weekend.

Festivities will begin on the Thursday with a special "Tapping the Casks" launch and a free brewery tour and tasting session.

Student discounts will be available across the weekend, and Sunday will round things off with a light-hearted "drink the brewery dry" finale, with special offers available on remaining pours.

The April event will mark the launch of a new programme of monthly "Under-The-Arches" events running through to December, combining live music, street food and fresh beer releases.

Windmill Hill Brewery shared: "Every town should have a beer festival.

"With a brewery based only a stone's throw from The Band Factory, where it used to be held, it feels only right that we help bring that spirit back and celebrate independent brewing in Warwickshire."

Tickets can be bought online here.
