Service to Commemorate the 80thAnniversary of theSinking of HMS Warwick

On 20 February The Royal Naval Association (RNA) – Warwick Branch held a service to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the sinking of HMS Warwick.

The service took place around the HMS commemorative tree in the grounds of Warwick Castle and 40 people attended including the Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Oliver Jacques.

Also in attendance were town clerk Jayne Topham, councillors and officers of Warwick District Council and Warwickshire County Council, the RNA National Chairman Peter Godwin, RNA Area 8 chairman Chris Lincoln, RNA Shipmates and Standards and members of The Family & Friends of HMS Warwick Association.

The ceremony was followed by tea, coffee and Danish pastries at The Courthouse where there was a display focusing on HMS Warwick and crew.

The display will be available in the Visitors' Information Centre until 2 March.
