Road closure details have been announced for the Warwick Half Marathon this weekend.

The annual event returns on Sunday, February 5 with new organisers Run Through.

Sponsored by the Wigley Group, the race will start and finish at Warwick Racecourse.

The 13.1 mile course will take the runners along Coventry Road, up to Leek Wootton, along Rouncil Lane, down Kites Nest Lane through Hatton and then back into Warwick via Hampton on the Hill.

The half marathon will begin at 9am, with a wheelchair half marathon beginning five minutes earlier.

Many of the road closures will be in place from 8am.

More than 1,500 people are expected to take part and this year there will be a new 1km junior race for children to help make it more inclusive to all ages.

All finishers will receive a medal with prizes available for the top three places overall and the top place in each of the veteran categories – aged 40, 50, 60 and 70 – for both males and females.

Rob Sullivan, events and operations manager at Run Through, said: "We're really excited to take over the long-term running of the event, starting from 2023.

"It's always been a really popular run in Warwickshire but we wanted to make it a bit more inclusive so instead of the usual 2.5k kids race, we have brought in a new 1k route instead which is for everyone from toddlers to teenagers."
