Police have released a CCTV image as they continue to investigate an assault on a local bus which left a woman in her 70s with a broken arm.

A man is reported to have attacked the woman and her husband at around 2.35pm on Monday 18 September, as they were travelling on the number one bus from The Parade in Leamington Spa to Spinney Hill in Warwick.

When the bus stopped it is reported both victims were pushed to the floor by the suspect.

The woman suffered a broken arm and minor head injury. The man in his 60s suffered a cut to his arm.

The couple are understood to have been involved in a verbal altercation with another man after he coughed towards them.

Enquiries are ongoing and Warwickshire Police is keen to speak to the man as the force believes he could have information about the assault.

Detective Constable Regan Austin from Warwickshire Police CID said last week: "This was an horrific attack that left a woman with a serious injury, and her and her husband badly shaken. We need to locate the person responsible for this.

"We have a good CCTV image of a man who may be able to help with our enquiries that we may release to the public if we fail to identify the man responsible."

Anyone with information that could help police identify the person responsible is asked to contact police at www.warwickshire.police.uk/report or on 101, quoting incident 216 of 18 September 2023.

Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
