Plans to turn Warwick ambulance station into nursery submitted
By James Smith 27th May 2026
An application to turn a former Warwick ambulance station into a nursery has been submitted to Warwick District Council.
Clarendon Cubs Ltd has applied for planning permission to repurpose the vacant site at Montague Road.
Plans show the facility would be able to accommodate 88 children.
The building was sold last year for nearly £600,000.
"The applicant already successfully runs one nursery in Leamington (Clarendon Cubs Nursery) where demand outstrips availability, with upwards of 20 unfulfilled enquiries each month," the application explained.
"The applicant has therefore been looking for an additional location in the Warwick/Leamington area to provide an additional nursery.
"The application site fulfils this requirement.
"It is located in a mostly residential area with a high number of young families."
Works will see the existing open plan room divided into three separate rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
A new baby change area, kitchen, staff room, utility room, toilets and offices will also be provided.
A large part of the western car park will be replaced with an outside playground and a forest school area.
The 65-year-old building has been vacant since the ambulance station closed in 2024.
It was then put on the market with housing developers interested in purchasing it but unable to due to a restriction on putting more buildings on part of the site.
