Controversial plans for a major new industrial development in Warwick look set to be given the green light, despite the objections of locals.
If approved, the application from Midlands Land Portfolio Ltd could see 8.8 hectares of land to the south of Stratford Road be converted for commercial use.
While this application is only at the outline stage, plans state it is likely three major warehouses and 391 car parking spaces would be built.
Warwick District Council's planning committee was due to decide on the plans in September, but deferred a decision saying they needed to visit the site - which is opposite the Tournament Fields industrial estate.
But with the application set to be discussed again next Wednesday (October 11), district planners have recommended councillors grant planning permission.
"Officers are satisfied that the site can accommodate the proposed development without causing demonstrable harm," a council report said.
It added: "It is acknowledged that the proposed development would be higher than the existing buildings in the area.
"However, the application site is partially on brownfield land within an already established commercial use which contains a range of low-level buildings and associated hardstandings.
"Officers consider that some of the negative visual effects can be mitigated through considerate design, choice of materials and landscape."
Some 153 objections have been raised to the application, with concerns around increased traffic, impact on the environment and the buildings being out of keeping with the area all listed.
Some locals have also said they are "being boxed in by super size warehouses".
