Plans for new village almshouse revealed

A new almshouse could be built in a South Warwickshire village, if plans are signed off by Warwick District Council.
The Trustees of Rowington Almshouse Charity have applied for planning permission to build a two-bedroom bungalow on Beech Close.
If approved, the home would add to the 19 almshouses already in Rowington.
The application to Warwick District Council said: "The proposed design comprises of an open plan kitchen/dining area with sitting area, two double bedrooms and a shower room and toilet.
"The external walls will be constructed of facing brickwork cavity walls, with blockwork and painted plaster finish to the interior.
"The pitched roof will be covered with concrete tiles. All external finishes are to be similar to those on the neighbouring almshouse properties.
"A small porch will be above the main front door and this will comprise of a concrete tiled roof supported on structural timber columns."
Plans show solar panels would also be built on the roof of the house.
The charity dates back to 1907 when the trustees built nine new almshouses on the site of some cottages.
These were renovated in 1968 and another nine were built in 1973. Two more were added in 2007.
