Plans to install new cricket nets at a Leek Wootton sports ground have been put forward to Warwick District Council.

If approved, the scheme will see the facilities at Leek Wootton War Memorial Recreation Ground on Quarry Close upgraded.

"The replacement of the existing cricket practice facility at Leek Wootton Cricket Club in line with the English Cricket board recommendations," the planning application said.

"The new nets will provide an updated and improved quality training facility for the club members.

"The facility will provide two batting lanes contained within a steel framed netted enclosure, designed to keep any cricket balls used within."

Plans state the facilities will be 30 metres long, 7.3 metres wide and four metres tall.

The application continued: "The existing site is the local sports club grounds and currently houses a 25-year-old cricket practice facility.

"The cricket facility sits within a larger grass area that forms part of the overall sports club grounds.

"This grassy area serves various purposes throughout the year.

"Grassy area, along with the cricket net, is incorporated into the full cricket pitch used for matches between April and September.

"From September to March, the sports grounds are used for football."
