Plans for new charity shop in Warwick move forward

Plans to open a new charity shop in Warwick have taken a step forward thanks to a decision from council planners.
Warwick District Council (WDC) has granted planning permission for a number of signs at the unit at Coten End.
Plans show the building is set to become a shop for the Salvation Army, having been vacated by Wickes.
Permission has been granted for three signs at the shop, which will be illuminated between 6am and 11pm.
"During the course of the application the number of signs has been reduced to three fascia signs, these are proposed to be in black with individual white lettering and internal illumination," a WDC report said.
"The scale of these signs are similar to those previously on the host building."
Warwick Town Council had initially objected to the application, but withdrew this after the plans changed and more information was supplied.
The application was signed off by WDC last week.
The district council's report continued: "Officers are satisfied that based on the information provided, subject to an approved plans, condition and two conditions regarding lighting that the advertisements are not considered to give rise to any harm to the amenity of the area or public safety.
"It is therefore recommended that advertisement consent be granted."
An opening date for the unit is yet to be confirmed.
Works on site are already underway, with M&G Joiners and Cabinet Makers helping to renovate the unit.
A sign in the window simply says 'opening soon'.
