Council planners have given the green light for a new 5G mast to be installed near Warwick.

Cornerstone Telecommunications Infrastructure Limited has been given prior approval to remove an existing pole at Five Ways Road, Shrewley, and replace it with a 20 metre-high mast.

Warwick District Council rubber stamped the plans at the end of April.

An application to the local authority said: "All mobile operators must ensure that their radio base stations (also known as masts) are designed and built so that the public are not exposed to radiofrequency fields above the strict safety guidelines which govern and limit public exposure to electromagnetic fields.

"In fact, base stations operate at low levels, emitting levels of radio waves many times lower than the guidelines."

Cornerstone said it consulted the Kenilworth Abbey & Arden Ward councillors and Shrewley Parish Council before putting forward the application.
