Parish councillors have doubled down on their objections to controversial plans for 34 new homes on a piece of land off Oakdene Crescent, Hatton.

Altus Homes and Morro Partnerships have applied for planning permission for the development on the former Ministry of Defence (MOD) base.

An application submitted to Warwick District Council said the site will be filled with a mix of one to four-bed affordable homes.

As well as over 85 objections from locals, Shrewley Parish Council and Hatton Parish Council have both objected to the plans.

And while some small changes have been made to the scheme since the objections were first registered, Shrewley councillors have renewed their opposition to the application.

They wrote: "However, the Parish Council (PC) agrees that these do not satisfy any of the concerns raised in our previous objection.

"The PC notes that our objections on the environmental impact of the development are supported by the WCC Senior Environmental Officer and our concerns on highway safety are supported by WCC.

"Also, the WDC Housing and Strategy Officer agrees with our concerns over local affordable housing need."

In their application, Atlus and Morro said redeveloping the green belt former depot would not have a negative impact on the local area.

However, Hatton Parish Council raised a number of concerns around infrastructure and the suitability of the former MOD site.

On the design of the homes, the council said: "The best that can be said of the barrack-like style of housing is intended to evoke the military heritage of the site."
