The Range will open at Tachbrook Park Drive on Friday 1 December 2023 - the company's website has confirmed.

Plans to combine two vacant shops at Leamington Shopping Park to create one large unit for the discount retailer were signed off by Warwick District Council (WDC) earlier this year.

The planning application - submitted by real estate firm Abrdn - said the rear of the two empty shops will be turned into a garden centre for the store.

The units, previously occupied by Argos and Outfit, will also have a new mezzanine floor built.

The application also included analysis of other retailers in Warwick, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth, saying the opening of The Range would not impact trade to other businesses.

Approving the application a WDC report said: "The proposals are not considered to harm the vitality and viability of the town centre. 

"Furthermore the proposals would have an acceptable impact on the character and appearance of the area and on the operation of the service yard."

The Range opened its first store in Plymouth in 1989 and now has over 200 stores nationwide.

The discount retailer this week agreed a £5 million deal to buy the Wilko brand, meaning it will take over the company's website and could start to stock Wilko products.
