Objectors win battle to block 28 new Hatton homes
By James Smith 16th Oct 2026
A planning inquiry has sided with locals who said 28 new homes should not be built in Hatton.
Warwick District Council last year refused to grant planning permission for the development at Oakdene Crescent, siding with the 168 locals who objected.
Developer Altus Homes and Morro Partnerships described that decision as "baffling" and appealed to the planning inspectorate to overturn the ruling.
But following a public inquiry earlier this year, the appeal was dismissed.
A ruling after the inquiry said the homes would "not be in a sustainable location" and counted as "inappropriate development" in the green belt.
When the proposals were first submitted, the application was for 34 new homes, but the scheme was stripped back to 28.
The land in question was previously owned by the Ministry of Defence.
When the application was refused, the district council said it was inappropriate use of the green belt.
The public hearing was held on Thursday 20 August at the Town Hall in Leamington Spa.
Papers prepared in advance of it state the impact on the green belt, accessibility, impact on the character of the area and the standard of living for future occupants were to be discussed.
