'No complaints' - Warwick McDonald's allowed to keep 24/7 opening times
By James Smith 21st May 2026
'No complaints' have been made about a Warwick McDonald's temporary 24/7 opening times in the past year, councillors have been told.
Warwick District Council has signed off on the Emscote Road business' bid to keep the longer opening times after it was given temporary permission to do so last year.
The business said it is meeting requests from a range of customers who work anti-social hours, including blue light staff and shift workers.
The council's planning committee took no time at all in unanimously approving the move this week.
A report from planning officers had recommended the times be approved.
And at Tuesday's (May 19) meeting, planning officer Rebecca Compton said: "Environmental Health have noted that there have been no noise concerns at all in that 12 month period."
She added: "From our point of view, while we have had some objections to this scheme relating to noise, antisocial behaviour and crime, we have had no objections from Environmental Health, safer communities or Warwickshire Police."
Some six objections were submitted by locals with issues around noise, traffic and litter raised.
After being granted the temporary licence by last year, the Emscote Road eatery only extended its hours slightly as a trial, "to ensure fears of anti-social behaviour and litter were not borne out".
Founder Dawood Ibtehsam said the decision to take up the already-granted license to serve food 24 hours a day would serve the dual purpose of providing meals for those working anti-social hours, as well as ensuring the business remains sustainable in an incredibly difficult economic climate for hospitality.
