Controversial plans to turn a former Warwick car showroom into two new shops are set to go before councillors next week, after a decision last month was pushed back.

Warwick District Council's planning committee was due to discuss the application for the former Kia Showroom on Stratford Road in the middle of April but the plans were pulled from the agenda "pending further consultations and clarification".

A council report had recommended Warwickshire Partnership's planning application be refused, saying there would not be enough parking on site.

And now a fresh report due to be discussed by the committee on Tuesday 20 May has again said the plans should be refused by councillors.

"The proposal would provide insufficient parking which fails to comply with the council's adopted parking standards," it said.

Multiple objections have been made to the application, which would see a 'top-up' food shop created and a smaller unit for a hairdressers, funeral director or salon.
