A new beauty and aesthetics business is preparing to open its doors on Warwick's Smith Street this summer.

Melissa Birch, owner of Melissas Aesthetics, is currently renovating the premises formerly occupied by beauty salon Mayfield, which has relocated to a few doors down the road.

The business, which will be opening in mid-July, will offer a variety of beauty and aesthetic treatments, including Botox, dermal fillers, skin boosters, micro-needling, nail services, makeup and hair extensions.

The salon has been designed to be more than just a treatment space. Plans include an outdoor seating area with artificial grass, tables and chairs, and a bespoke mural painted by a local artist.

Speaking to Nub News, Melissa shared: "I want it to be somewhere people enjoy spending time.

"Somewhere you can come, relax and even sit with a coffee before or after your treatment."

Melissa brings more than a decade of experience in aesthetics to the new venture. She previously ran a clinic on Regent Street in Leamington before taking time away from the business following the birth of her son.

"Having children throws a spanner in the works a little bit!" she laughed. "But I feel ready to go again now."

Her career began in hair and makeup before she moved into makeup and eventually aesthetics.

At a time when Botox and filler treatments were still relatively new to the beauty industry, Melissa decided to train in the field and quickly developed a passion for it.

"The training was very different back then," she explained.

"I had to train as a phlebotomist first and learn to take blood before moving on to Botox and fillers."

Treatment prices are expected to vary depending on the service provided, with options available across a broad price range from £90 all the way upward to £400 and over (image supplied)

Alongside running the business, Melissa is currently studying towards a Level Seven qualification in aesthetics, which she expects to complete within the next year.

For those considering aesthetic treatments for the first time, Mellisa believes consultation is key.

"Everybody describes what they want differently, and sometimes the treatment they think they need isn't actually the treatment that will give them the result they're looking for," she explained. "A consultation allows us to discuss goals, explain the process and make sure treatments are planned around healing times and important events."

The new salon will join a growing number of independent businesses on Smith Street, an area that has seen increased activity and investment in recent months.

Although renovation work has faced some minor delays, Melissa remains optimistic and is looking forward to welcoming clients later this summer.

She added: "I'm excited to get everything finished and open the doors. "It's been a lot of work, but it's all coming together."
