Myton Fields car park will open this weekend as the town prepares for an increase in traffic due to the warm weather.

The Myton Road car park will be open from March 25 - 27.

Temperatures in Warwick are expected to peak at 17C over the weekend according to the Met Office - before returning to the low teens next week.

The car park, next to the River Avon, is often used for overflow during big events in the town and only opens when the weather is dry.

A spokesperson from Warwick District Council's ranger service said: "Myton Fields car park - some good news!

"As the weather is improving and it looks like it's going to be a lovely sunny weekend, the car park will be open tomorrow and Saturday and Sunday."

WDC introduced parking charge hikes for all its car parks, including Myton Fields, in January.

The council has also announced temporary closures at Victoria Park car park in Leamington Spa as the town prepares for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Planned works include:

  • Resurfacing and remarking of the car park including new accessible parking bays
  • Improvements to pedestrian access into and out of the car park to the Riverside walk and Victoria Park
  • New landscaping and planting
