MP Matt Western has responded to the recent sentencing of two 17-year-olds after they admitting to raping a 15-year-old girl in Leamington earlier this year.

He shared: "The case of the 15-year-old girl who was raped in Leamington earlier this year is horrific, and I am sickened to learn of the details following the sentencing at Warwick Crown Court.

"No woman or young girl should expect an outing with their friends in our towns to end in such violence. This appalling incident illustrates the ongoing plague of violence against women and girls in our constituency and across the UK. As our local MP, I'm determined to do all I can to tackle this scourge head on.

"This young girl's life will forever be impacted by these violent acts. Although these two vile perpetrators have rightfully felt the force of the law and received custodial sentences, no sentence will make up for the dreadful pain they have put their victim through.

"My thoughts are with the victim and their family during this difficult time. They have shown immense strength and bravery in seeing this case through the court.

"Earlier today, I spoke with Warwickshire Police to receive an update on this case. I will continue to work with them and partner organisations across the constituency to tackle violence against women and girls.

"I am very concerned by the nature of this particular case and have written today to the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice. I am seeking an urgent meeting with them to get clarification regarding the sentences handed down and the deportation process which follows."
